Who is WWA?
Established in 1983, Wisconsin Waterfowl Association is a dedicated group of men and women, consisting of both sportsmen and conservationists alike, who are working hard to restore and conserve Wisconsin's wetland resources and waterfowl. Over 1/2 of Wisconsin's original 10 million acres of wetlands have been lost!!! This is due, in part, to the draining, ditching, restorable alteration, and, sadly at times, the complete irreversible destruction of wetlands for agricultural, residential, and commercial purposes.
WWA is also dedicated to the implementation of educational programs for Wisconsin's youth that raise awareness of our state's limited wetlands and other natural resources, and to the promotion of legislation that protects those natural resources and Wisconsin citizen's rights to hunt and fish.
What Can I Do?
Get involved, it's not too late!!! We raise money through donations, and then use those donations to support our annual banquet. The chapter banquets are the single largest source of income for WWA. The donations are converted into larger sums of cash via raffles, silent and live auctions, and annual memberships included in the banquet ticket price. Once the banquet is over, the money raised then goes into a central account for WWA. It is at this point the money can be matched with funds (grants) from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (usually 1 to 1) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (typically 2 to 1) to fund wetland and prairie restoration projects throughout Wisconsin. WWA also has a segregated Educational Trust Fund solely for supporting our educational programs. Please see here for more information.
We can only get matching funds for monies we actually have available. If we don't have money available to be matched, we can't be guaranteed that the grant funds will be available in the future. Simply put, we need your help. Join WWA, attend a banquet or volunteer to work at one, join a committee, solicit donations, or simply donate your time or money. Every little bit helps, and the best part is that 100% of the money raised stays in Wisconsin for Wisconsin's projects and programs.
